This pepper plant is a show stopper. It has dark glossy black/grey leaves with These plants are grown for their ornamental value, but also the chilis have heat! Their heat level is 10,000-30,000 SHU, similar to a serrano pepper. The flavor is citrusy and sweet, but this pepper is worth growing for its stunning beauty. The plant only reaches 2-2.5 feet tall, so it is perfect for containers. This plant produces many pods. They were developed by Rob Griesbach and Jon Stommel of Agricultural Research Service’s Laboratory.

- Plant in full sun and well draining soil
- Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart
- Matures in 60-75 days
Seed Saving
To save seed, allow the pepper to turn red on the plant, then harvest, cut the pepper, scrape out the seeds and dry on a flat surface such as a screen, paper plate or baking sheet. Allow to dry for 1-2 weeks and then store in a paper envelope.
