These peppers are a staple of Peruvian cuisine. The pepper starts out yellow, then ripens to an orange with some occasional purple accents. The plants are great producers and the get at least 3-4 ft tall. The pepper is about the same heat level as a cayenne pepper with sweet and fruity notes. Planting/Harvesting Notes
- Plant in full sun and well draining soil
- Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart
- 70 days to unripe yellowish pods, 90-100 days to ripe orange pods.
Seed Saving
To save seed, allow the pepper to turn red on the plant, then harvest, cut the pepper, scrape out the seeds and dry on a flat surface such as a screen, paper plate or baking sheet. Allow to dry for 1-2 weeks and then store in a paper envelope.
