Known as a scallion or green onion, this variety produces small onions as thick as your thumb. These onions are used as seasonings for stir frys and pastas. This variety grows well in a wide range of environment and it has been grown since the early 1700s.
Planting/Harvesting Notes
- Select a sunny, well drained spot in the garden
- Transplant starts in groups of four
- Gently hold the tops while shoving the roots into a small hole in the soil made with a pencil or your finger
- Cover with soil immediately and water well
- Onions are ready for harvest as soon as they reach an appropriate size
