Sweet Spanish Yellow Utah Jumbo

This onion can grow up to 2 pounds! This is a mild, sweet variety that is excellent for eating raw or sauteing.

Planting/Harvesting Notes

  • Select a sunny, well drained spot in the garden
  • Transplant starts in groups of four
  • Gently hold the tops while shoving the roots into a small hole in the soil made with a pencil or your finger
  • Cover with soil immediately and water well
  • Matures in 100-115 days
  • To store, wait until the tops of the onion are 80% dry and falling over
  • Allow to dry in a cool dry place for several days. The outer skin should get papery and start shrinking. Once the tops are dry, trim the roots and tops to 1 inch from the bulb and store in a cool dry place.
