This plant is often mistaken for chamomile because its leaves look visually similar, but the flowers are different. The flowers are yellow with no petals and when crushed, they smell of pineapple. Pineapple weed thrives in compacted, dry, or sandy soil. It can often be found growing where other plants cannot! The leaves and flowers are edible and can be tossed in salad, or the flowers can be dried for a tea. The leaves turn bitter after the plant flowers.
Planting/Harvesting Notes
- Flowers are produced from March to September.
