Cinnamon Basil

Cinnamon basil contains methyl cinnamate, giving it a flavor reminiscent of cinnamon. It is used to flavor drinks as a replacement for mint. Cinnamon basil can also be used as a replacement for traditional sweet basil. It can also be used in tea or as an addition to a healthy salad. Finally, you can use this herb as a flavoring for desserts. This is a very versatile herb!

Planting/Harvesting Notes

  • Plant after all chance of frost has passed
  • Plant in an area with well drained soil and 6-8 hours of sun.
  • Harvesting some leaves often will encourage the plant to grow more leaves
  • Can companion plant with tomatoes, cabbage, strawberries and squash, helping to reduce tomato hornworm and cabbage worm damage
