Caraway comes from the same family as carrots and fennel. The seeds are saved as a tasty spice! The roots and leaves are edible as well and the plant has a licorice and anise flavor. This plant grows well in this region, but because it is a biennial, it won’t flower until the second year.

Planting/Harvesting Notes
Pick a bed that your caraway can stay for multiple years. Pick an area where the soil drains well. When transferring the seedling, be very careful not to damage the very fragile tap root. Be sure not to plant near dill or fennel as this plants are in the same family as caraway and can cross pollinate. Cross pollination can result in poor seed flavor.
