Wild Violets (Viola odorata)

Wild violets a native perennial that produces beautiful dark purple flowers. The flowers often have white stripes. This low growing plant will readily self seed and they will also reproduce by rhizome. Violets happily grow in shady or sunny spots. They will grow mixed into grass and will give your lawn color in the spring or fill in spots in your garden. This plant blooms between late March to early May.

Planting/Harvesting Notes

  • Plant in a shady area with well drained soil.
  • Leave 8 inches on either side of the plant to allow for growth
  • Once the plants become established, they can become very aggressive and may need thinning from time to time.
