Creeping Moss Phlox (Phlox subulata)

Creeping moss phlox is a native, evergreen perennial that produces beautiful five petal, purple/blue flowers. The flowers are shaped like starbursts. This plant spreads best by roots and will creep outwards to fill in a space relatively quickly. It makes a great evergreen ground cover and produces a beautiful carpet of purple flowers for 2-4 weeks in the early spring (mid April-mid May). Once established, it is drought tolerant and grows on rocky, sandy areas, or loamy soils. It is relatively easy to grow and requires no care beyond yearly division if desired.

Planting Notes

Plant in a full sun to part shaded area in loamy to rocky soil. Bury the creeping stems slightly to make sure the plant roots well and enjoy.
