This early maturing variety of open-pollinated cauliflower has a nutty, sweet flavor. The heads of this variety are not self-blanching, so you must wrap the outer leaves around the crown after it is a few inches across and tie with a rubber band or string. This process keeps the heads from turning brown and bitter. It is worth the extra effort!
Planting/Harvesting Notes
- Transplant 12-18 inches apart
- Do not bury your transplant any deeper than they were inside their container
- Crop is mature in 65-70 days after transplant
- Plant in full sun and well draining soil
- Cauliflower is a cool season crop and does not tolerate extreme heat. Keep beds evenly moist and use a shade cloth during heat waves to help reduce heat stress.
