Fennel is a member of the carrot family, but it forms an interweaving bulb that has a licorice flavor. It is excellent stir fried in butter.

Planting/Harvesting Notes

Find an area that gets at least 6 hours of sun per day and where there is good drainage. Space plants 4 to 12 inches apart. Harvest leaves at any time but avoid harvesting more than one third of the plant at once.
